CAR TITLE/INSURANCE VS BANK LOAN?

Hi, I wanted to make sure this is legal before I take part in it. So a friend of mine who I have known now for about 15 years wants to get rid of his car because he can no longer afford it. He has about 8k left to pay on the loan for it, and hasn't driven it in about a month because he let the insurance lapse. To get the car off of his hands, he is offering it to me for free, i'll just take over the loan. Here's the thing...my credit is currently rebuilding and I know his bank will probably deny me during the application process. So, I was told by a family friend, that in this case...as long as he has the title in his name (which he does, no liens)...he can sign over the title to me, and i can then insure the car in my name. And, i'll just make his current payments for him for the loan (which is still in his name) until it's paid off.....this is legal, correct? I just want to make sure before taking part. Does the loan, title, and insurance HAVE to be in his name? OR does the bank just want to get paid back regardless of who is paying?....thanks for all your answers. I was rear ended in a 3 car crash, I am the first one. Car 2 hit me first ( I feel 2 impact), then car 3 slightly bump the car 2. I've had epilepsy since I was 5 years old, I'm now 24. I came across a comment on a website a few minutes ago about there being some kind of federal law where it's ILLEGAL to deny someone coverage because they may be in poor health, overweight, etc... aka having a pre-existing condition . If this is true about there being a law AGAINST it, why are SO MANY health insurance companies allowed to deny people w/ pre-existing conditions right off the bat? So wouldn't that mean that there are THOUSANDS of insurance companies that are running their business illegally & breaking the law? I am 16 years old and I will be getting my liscence soon. I am really excited to be able to drive and not to the bus to clas anymore and be able to meet my friends whenever but my parents are making me pay car insurance on my own and they will get me a car. 18 years of age, recently got my license more than a month ago. Looking into this 2003 Ford Taurus I found at a dealership (4 door).... Parents are saying insurance will cost around $300 a month! excluding the car payment which will be around $200 a month. My parents recently told me that I have to pay for my own insurance (Damn economy). I would be driving a 2005 Chevrolet Suburban and a 2004ish Suzuki Sedan. Im currently age 22 and on my mothers health care plan and scheduled to get married in October. My question is, will I still be covered on my mothers insurance plan if my future spous has a form of employer insurance that i could be on. This would however kill her monthly take home pay. Shed make 300$ a month for full time job Im self employed and have NO Employer-based insurance opportunities and will still be 22 when married. So when i get married will i be kicked off my mothers insurance because i have the potential to be on my spouses insurance plan? This Affordable Care act law is somewhat vague on this topic
