Okay, long story short. Last week I got in a car accident with some friends. My back is messed up and I went to the doctor Monday. He told me that my lower back muscles, tendons, and my lumbar are all swollen and sprained. My parents want my friend's family's insurance to pay for the doctor bills, plus they want to get me something (I think it's called compensation or something, I can't remember) basically, the insurance company will pay me money. I guess my questions are just these: If you were my friend's parents in this situation, would you be mad? Is my family technically suing my friend's family? Does her family find out about this or is it all confiential between me, my parents, and the insurance? We live in Washington state and got in an accident on the Interstate, heading down to Seattle for the afternoon, if it changes anything

My car was rear ended while parked in front of my house and insurance has declared it a total loss. We have been going back and forth on the value of the car and have finally gotten them to a value that we agree with but we disagree with how much they are taking off for previous damage to the car. There was a dent to the left fender and a scrape on the right back door, Farmers is saying it would cost $1100 to repair which is close to some of the estimates I have gotten from body shops. But they are not depreciating that value down for a used car. We were going through Safeco as well and they were taking 40% of the cost to make those repairs and deducting it from the value. Does anyone know what is standard practice for deducting previous damage to a value of a car? Thanks for your help!

Question about car insurance and ticket?

Today my girlfriend asked me to drive her home from college as she was sick. I used her moms car. When coming home on the arterial we were at a red light and I was getting ready to get in the right lane when the light turned green the SUV in front of me began to go then stopped suddenly, (still don't know why) As I was still crossing into the other lane the corner of my front bumper bumped her fender corner. I noticed she stopped and was on her phone so I backed up and parked behind her assuming she just wanted to make sure it was ok. Her tail lights were fine, she drove Subaru SUV so she had a pretty solid buffer there really wasn't even a scuff but a small red reflector on the bottom of the bumper that received a small crack (got a pic close up but can't see it more than a couple inches away. My headlight just has small scuff we werent worried, in NYS you don't generally call unless the damage is over 1000 but she insisted on calling the police. I kept asking if she'd like to just exchange insurance info but she said no (stubborn middle aged probably for insurance) The cops kept telling her we could just exchange info but she wanted report. Anyways, we sat there for about an hour and eventually just got the accident report and I got a following too closely ticket. Do you know how much something like this would cost in NYS roughly and if it would add points on my license. (Cant have pts for work ) Also how will insurance be affected?

Last year my girlfriend has a car crash, she was not at fault. So she didn't tell her insurance company and claimed of the other party. So she is assuming her car insurance does not know. trying too find insurance, that isn't a ridicules price for a close friend, he got 6 points for driving while uninsured last year, 200 fee. (and since it was in the first 2 years of him driving he had too re do his license). he has 2 criminal convictions... the cheapest i've found is at-least 5.000+.. don't want any judging, but surly insurance shouldn't be refusing too insure them, when they're actually trying too get insurance when there conviction was no insurance?

Hey, when I was 18 I got 3 points for speeding. It is coming up to 5 years since I got them and when doing insurance quotes it always says 'any speeding convictions within 5 years' I was just wondering, dees that mean once it has been 5 years, that I won't have to declare them anymore? and will they completely disappear from my driving record/license?
